Tried to get a few last rides in this past weekend with the nice fall weather surely drawing to a close. It was pretty spectacular over the weekend - sunny and in the 20's C on Sunday and Monday. Even Saturday with spotty rainshowers was pretty nice (since it was so warm). I rode in the Park on Saturday and it was pretty quiet, likely due to the overcaast weather keeping the crowds home. My guess is that was not the case on Sunday. The leaves have really hung on for a long time this year and the forest is a sea of orange and rusts.... really beautiful.
Sunday was the "Jim Howe" cross country running race. I've helped put this event on for a number of years and Sunday was about the nicest weather we've ever had. Most years this race signals the end of fall and snow starts to fall in short order. As it turned out it felt more like an August weekend than late October (but the orange leaves were a dead giveaway). As I type this cold rain is falling and that should start to strip away the remaining leaves and get things looking a little more like November is around the corner. Snow soon?
